The Democratic Party has taken over the House of Representatives, but the US is not the only country still waiting for the final results on who will control the Senate.
While 87 percent of Jews voted for Democrats, according to a CNN poll, there could be serious implications for Israel concerning the future of US policy in the Middle East. This is with the Democratic standpoint to support a quick pullout from Iraq and counter US President George W. Bush’s stance on the war on terror.
The president of Americans for a safe Israel said this is because Americans have a “lack of understanding of the conflict.”
In spite of this, AIPAC, the strongest US lobby for Israel is expected to stay strong no matter who takes control of Congress.
Jews voted for candidates they thought would be good for Israel, but not necessarily the ones who would be the best for Israel, said Steve Rabinovich, an elections expert who served in the White House during the Clinton era.
