A delegation of directors, producers, and screenwriters from Hollywood are due to visit Israel this week in order to encourage the American movie industry to film in Israel.

The visit is an initiative of the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles in cooperation with the Jewish Federation in Los Angeles. The Federation has been conducting intensive activities with the film industry in Hollywood in order to bring artists, actors, directors, producers, and screenwriters in order to reveal to them what Israel has to offer in the area of landscape, locations, advanced technology, and professional film crews.

Over the past days, intensive work of a few months has been culminating in an effort to bring a delegation from the William Morris agency which represents some of the biggest names in the movie industry. The delegation will arrive on Wednesday and will stay for one week. Among the delegates we can find Oscar winners, alongside others whose movies were huge box office hits around the world.

The delegation will be headed by David Loner, a senior agent in the William Morris Agency, and will include: Alexander Payne, director and screenwriter of movies such as “Sideways” which gave him the Oscar in 2005 and “About Schmidt” starring Jack Nicholson; Audrey Wells, who produced “Shall We Dance” starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez; “Under the Tuscan Sun” starring Diane Lane; and “The Truth About Cats and Dogs,” starring Uma Thurman.

The delegation will also include Robert B. Wade who won the Emmy for the Larry David comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO; Michael Tolkin who directed “The Player” with Tim Robbins; Jon Turteltaub who produced and directed “While You Were Sleeping” starring Sandra Bullock and is responsible for “Jericho” a new series on CBS television.

The final details of the tour are currently being worked out. They will tour the country and visit potential shooting locations.
