Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni spoke at the United Jewish Communities General Assembly in Los Angeles, calling on the international community to wake up to the indifference in the face of the Iranian nuclear program.
“We face a regime that denies and mocks the Holocaust while seeking the weapons to perpetrate one. Iran's words and actions are not only a direct threat to Israel, but they are no less a threat to the values that the international community as a whole claims to hold dear,” said Livni.
In relation to Israel’s kidnapped soldiers, the Foreign Minister promised to do all in her power in order that the subject would not be removed from the order of the day. Livni indicated also that the war in Lebanon exposed many of the failures in Israel, but “the rules of the game in Lebanon have changed. Hizballah, surprised by the reaction, suffered a setback, the Lebanese army has deployed to the south, and an arms embargo was imposed on the state.”
