Kassam hits Kibbutz, causes severe damage

A Kassam rocket launched from Gaza early Tuesday morning landed on the premises of a Kibbutz in the western Negev and exploded dangerously close to residential areas and a factory causing severe damage. Several people were treated for shock.

The attack Tuesday morning came as children were still asleep in the building which houses the kibbutz children and caused much panic and stress among the local residents. The Kassam also landed close to a manufacturing plant in the area causing severe damage.

The Israel Defense Forces has reported that some people were treated for shock.

Hours later, Palestinian sources reported from Gaza that the Hamas military wing, Izaddin al-Kassam claimed responsibility for the early morning rocket attack.

A few hours later, a second Kassam rocket was fired at Israel from northern Gaza reportedly landing in an open field south of Ashkelon. There were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
