Haifa students to produce Israel ‘blog’ films

Monday, November 20, 2006 |  by Staff Writer
In an attempt to circumvent the foreign media which tends to focus only on the conflict with the Palestinians, Israel was the first country in the world to open an official blog to portray the nation in a different light, especially to the young audience worldwide.

Now, the Reali High School in Haifa has taken upon itself a project to supply the blog with videos, produced by students of the communications department, which depict the “normal” life of youths in Israel.

In addition, the students will produce videos for the blog which will include original video clips to different songs, unique sporting events only in Israel (such as a paddleball tournament), places to go out, field trips, interviews with authors and scientists and more.

The person behind this initiative is David Saranga, Israel’s consul of communications and public diplomacy in New York. Saranga said that the cooperation with the students of the Reali School will allow youth in Israel to conduct a dialogue with their counterparts from around the world, and, in doing so, present a human dimension of Israeli society.

Today there are more than 30 videos on the site, www.isrealli.org, including a video of Ivri Lider, a famous Israeli singer, a victory of Shahar Pe’er, Israeli tennis star, shots of the Tel Aviv nightlife, gay tourism in Israel and much more.
