Terrorist tunnel collapses

Monday, November 27, 2006 |  by Staff Writer
One of many terrorist-constructed tunnels collapsed over the weekend in the Gaza Strip. This shows Egypt’s failure to heed its agreement of halting arms smuggling.

A number of Palestinians were trapped beneath the rubble of a tunnel leading to a Gaza home 100 meters from the Egyptian border. One smuggler was pulled from the debris after rescue workers dug him out.

Hamas and other terrorist factions are making every effort to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip through the Egyptian border in spite of a recent cease-fire agreement with Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been carrying out a number of activities in the Gaza Strip with the rise in terrorist activities. Troops spotted a group of Palestinians planting explosives near the Karni border crossing and in a separate incident terrorists detonated an explosive device near an IDF vehicle.

The number of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Israel is rising and the IDF fired on two approaching the security fence also over the weekend. No injuries were reported.
