Hizballah receives missiles from Syria

Truckloads of Iranian and Syrian long-range and anti-tank missiles have been smuggled to Hizballah in the four months following the Lebanon war.

Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed most of Hizballah's long-range missiles during the month-long war, but found that Hizballah has since received convoys of weapons from Syria.

With increasing tensions in Lebanon and Hizballah threatening to topple the current Lebanese government, Israel has raised its level of alert in the north. Israel is concerned that the Lebanese instability will ignite Hizballah attacks on Israel's northern border. Military intelligence believes it is only a matter of time before Hizballah resumes attacks against northern communities and continues to carry out further kidnappings.

Hizballah continues to operate underground despite beefed up security and presence of UNIFIL forces.

The escalation in tensions between Israel and Syria is due to Syria’s continual support of Hizballah, supplying the terrorists with weapons and forging a strategic alliance with Iran.
