Prime Minister Ehud Olmert instructed his cabinet not to speak about the Baker-Hamilton report on the war in Iraq. He called the report an internal American issue and urged his cabinet ministers to refrain from comments that would bring them into internal conflicts in the U.S.
"I don't recommend that you speak about this,” Olmert said, “ but if someone feels the need to do so, please coordinate it with my office so conflicting statements won't be heard from the government."
The report that was released last Wednesday calls for U.S. dialogue with Iran and Syria and says that the stabilization of Iraq depends, among other things, on addressing the Israeli-Arab conflict. Olmert expressed that he does not believe that Bush will change his position on the issue of Syria and Iran.
