An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier was shot in the head on Monday when troops clashed with Palestinian gunmen in Samarian town of Kabatiya, south of Jenin. The soldier was airlifted to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and was treated for a gunshot wound to his forehead.

The soldier was wounded during a routine arrest raid in Kabatiya. When Palestinian terrorists opened fire at the IDF unit in a well-planned ambush, the troop’s Humvee overturned. Another soldier was lightly wounded in the exchange of fire.

IDF patrols operate regularly in Jenin, and the Samarian town is a frequent site of clashes between soldiers and Palestinian terrorists.

Also, in the area, Palestinians threw several bombs at IDF troops. No casualties were reported.

In Judea, IDF troops arrested a Palestinian woman west of Bethlehem, approaching them with a knife. The woman told her interrogators she intended to attack the soldiers.
