At the weekly Knesset (parliament) Meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said there is a chance Israel will receive the UN Security Council’s decision to impose sanctions on Iran.

“The sanctions to be imposed on Iran are not as sharp as we wanted, but it is a step in the right direction,” Olmert said.

Olmert revealed that during his recent visit to Germany and Italy, he asked that the individual states will take steps against Iran which are over and above the UN Security Council's sanctions, referring to economic and financial limitations with their relationship with the Islamic nation. "The US has begun this process and it is already being felt in Iran,” Olmert said

“In America this is already implemented and there is influence that already is noticeable in Iran,” he said.

Olmert gave the example that there is an Iranian society that blocks the process of clearing in its international banks, which influences their activities and international trade with Iran.
