German Bishop to Hizballah: Show sign of Israeli soldiers’ lives

Bishop Wolfgang Huber, head of the evangelical church in Germany, reminded parishioners during his Christmas sermon in the Berlin Cathedral of the three Israeli kidnapped soldiers and called on Hizballah to show compassion and show signs of life.

The bishop said it is shameful that Hizballah refuses to give a sign of life of the abducted soldiers.

“I speak today to these who control the lives of Israeli soldiers, Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser: please give the prisoners’ parents a sign of life,” he said. “Whoever wants peace is not allowed hide prisoners and prevent them from having human contact.”

A delegate of Israeli ambassadors in Germany requested of the bishop to bring up the subject in his Christmas sermon.

Bishop Huber is slated to visit Israel in April.
