Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, head of Lebanon’s radical Islamic Hizballah movement, said on Friday that he was happy with the resignation of IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz.
In a television interview on al-Manar that is run by Hizballah, Nasrallah said he was very happy when he heard the news and that he expects more resignations from the Israeli government.
Nasrallah also said that “we have been waiting for such a resignation since the Israeli war on Lebanon ended in July.” He added that he expects the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
Referring to the resignation of Halutz on Wednesday Nasrallah said, “This is not a failure for Olmert’s cabinet only, but the failure of a major political party in Israel, the Kadima party and its main coalition partner, Labor.”
Nasrallah added that “It is [Hizballah’s] martyrs who achieved this resignation after Israel failed to confront our strugglers in southern Lebanon.”
