Former Chief of Staff Major General Moshe Ya’alon said there is no escaping the confrontation with Iran and thwarting the Ayatollah regime as a part of the struggle against world jihad.
“Radical Islamic jihad is waging the third world war,” Ya’alon said.
In a speech at the Herzliya Conference, Ya’alon also said that the framework for a two-state solution for two peoples is irrelevant to the Israeli-Arab conflict, a conflict that has no influence on the instability in the Middle East and conflicts between those from the Arab and Islamic world.
Concerning the Lebanon war, Ya’alon said the difficulty that flows from the war is not a basic solution of the Israeli army, but a result of the failure of the military and political leadership.
Ya’alon said the Israeli army would become rehabilitated with the replacement of a new chief of staff.
Ya’alon also attacked those who think that the end of the occupation in the territories would bring about an end to the conflict.
