Four Kassam rockets were fired toward the southern Negev town of Sderot from the Gaza Strip on Monday morning.
The first rocket landed in an open field near the security fence while the other three fell just outside Sderot. No injuries or damage were reported.
Police searched for the rockets in the various landing sites.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz said RAFAEL would develop and manufacture a short-range rocket interception system to be used against Kassam and Katyusha rockets.
The anti-rocket system is to be placed in Sderot and areas near the Gaza Strip, often hit by Kassam rockets and would be the first to receive the system. Ashkelon would be next on the list as it comes under fire often.
Islamic Jihad has announced its continued rocket attacks against Israel, “reminding the Palestinians that they have a common enemy,” and that they should therefore out a stop to the internal clashes between them.
