Milk is Israel’s number one food purchase, far outselling the nation’s top 20 food products.
Outselling all other products was the half-liter carton of Tnuva milk with a twist cap. According to research by ACNielsen, the twist cap is popular because it is easier to open and pour from than the traditional milk sold here in a plastic bag.
Data also revealed that Israelis purchased more health food products in 2006 than ever. This was also evident with the rise in mineral water and cottage cheese and the decline in coffee and Coca Cola sales.
Tnuva products hold high standings among consumers including its dairy line of milk in a carton, bagged milk, kosher milk, cottage cheese, Emek cheese, and enriched milk, which all made it to last year’s top 10 list.
Other top products purchased by Israelis included Coca Cola, Ein Gedi mineral water, Eden mineral water, and Strauss’ cottage cheese.
