Police arrest Sheikh Raed Salah

Police arrested Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Islamic Movement’s Northern Front on Wednesday along with one of his followers for flying Palestinian and Syrian flags at a protest in Arab East Jerusalem’s Wadi Joz neighborhood.

Border police detained two of the men on suspicion of incitement. The Islamic Movement head was indicted last month along with several of his followers on similar charges, following a scuffle with police during a protest of the Mugrabi Gate construction work near the Temple Mount.

After his February arrest, Salah was given a restraining order, barring him from coming within 60 meters (180 feet) of the Old City walls.

The Islamic leader has currently engaged in more vocal means of protest, calling for a third Intifada and violence against Israel.
