Messianic Jews featured in positive light

It was nothing short of a miracle when Israel’s Channel 2 aired a full-length report on Messianic believers in the Land and portrayed them in a positive light. The 7-minute report was the first known unbiased report of Jewish believers in the Israeli media.

Channel 2 started with the Ronnen family as they said grace before their meal then later having a traditional Shabbat meal and candle-lighting ceremony. The reporter noted that although these families are believers in Yeshua, they are still Jews who have not forsaken many Jewish customs and traditions.

The Bar David family, one of the first Messianic families in the Land, boasts being the first Messianic family in the Land and generations of sons serving as officers in elite military units to boot.

“We are first Jews, who serve their country faithfully as we are committed to the Tanach (the Old Testament) and the New Testament” said Tsuriel Bar David.

The film also featured the worship service of Shemen Sasson (Oil of Joy), one of the Messianic congregations in Jerusalem. Calev Meyers, one of the leaders of the congregation, told Israel Today that he received positive feedback from the report and said that it was a good for Israelis to see their fellow Jews bless and trust the God of Israel as well as his Son, the Messiah.
