Winograd Committee to issue final report

The Winograd Commission’s final report, to be released in late summer, will include “personal recommendations” concerning Israel’s leaders.

A partial report revealing actions taken during the recent war in Lebanon and will include the full judgment of actions for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and senior military officials. The sentencing will be based on the five days between the capture of Israeli soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser and the official war against Hizballah.

Full details of all actions taken by Israel’s leaders, including their sentence would be revealed only in the final report. A source indicated it did not deny the possibility that portions of the report may be released in advance.

One website reported that Peretz admitted to members of the committee that it was a mistake to accept his post as defense minister.
