Israelis and Palestinians produce joint olive oil brand

Tuesday, March 20, 2007 |  by Staff Writer
Israelis and Palestinians have formed a peace agreement at least concerning the production of olive oil. Olives of Peace is a new brand of olive oil manufactured by both Israelis and Palestinians.

The oil is a blend of Israeli and Palestinian made virgin olive oil, bottled by leading producers from both groups.

Peace advocates came up with the idea after a series of seminars for olive growers and producers gave lectures on innovative ways of producing quality oil.

The new brand will be exported to Japan and sold on the market there with the help of the Japanese external trade association. A British organization is also interested in marketing the oil and the company is in negotiations with the US for possible markets.

This project is a joint initiative led by Crossroads, a new organization aimed at forming and supporting economic cooperation in the Middle East. The goal of the activity is to benefit and improve welfare by creating multi-faceted cooperation.
