The Saturday night Euro 2008 qualifying soccer match ended to no man’s avail as the England-Israel game ended in a tie.

Despite the British controlling the game, Israel stayed on its feet with its goalkeeper Dudu Awat’s excellent performance, preventing a devastating loss for the Israelis. There was a registered 1:10 shots, with England dominating over Israel in goal attempts.

“I said before the match that I would be satisfied with any result besides a loss; so I am satisfied,” Kashtan said after the match. “We are in the same position as England at this point. When we go to England we will have to play to win.”

Israel and England remain tied on points after the draw, collecting eight points from their five qualifiers to date.

Only the top two teams in the group advance to Euro 2008.

More than 42,000 fans packed the Ramat Gan stadium, with thousands of visitors from England in Israel for the match.
