The Turkish charter company, Corendon Airlines, took over flights between Israel and Turkey last week following EL AL’s suspension of its route to Antalya.
The company is to operate two weekly flights to Turkey, increasing its schedule to daily flights during the high season beginning in June 2007.
Sources in the Israeli tourism industry said that Eshet Tours signed an exclusive $4 million agreement with the company in operation of the flight route for a period of one year, with an option to extend the agreement by one additional year.
Corendon Airlines operates as a joint Turkish and Dutch company and was founded in 2000.
The company is known throughout Europe as a low-cost Turkish airline connecting Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands with Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria through scheduled and charter flights.
