Bible Society, internet cafes attacked in Gaza City

Three explosions that went off in Gaza City on Sunday morning damaged two internet cafes and a Christian bookstore. No injuries were reported and no group claimed responsibility for the attack, Palestinian security officials reported.

Several similar attacks on internet cafes and music stores in the area have been committed by an Islamic extremist group, known as “Swords of Truth.”

Security officials would not speculate as to who was behind the attacks and said previous bombings were under investigation.

The Bible Society, funded by American evangelicals, suffered heavy external damage and a number of books were also burned in the explosion.

In recent months, about three dozen internet cafes and shops selling pop music have been attacked in the Gaza Strip. These attacks targeted businesses and caused extensive damage, but there were no injuries.

Palestinian security officials have said they believe those behind the attacks to be a secret “vice squad” of Moslem terrorists.
