Boy jumps out window during rocket attack

A 10-year-old Israeli child was wounded Thursday after he jumped out of the window of his home during a Palestinian rocket attack on the southern Israel town of Sderot.

The boy said that the sound of the rockets exploding in a nearby field frightened him into believing the next one would hit his house, reported Israel's Ma'ariv daily newspaper on its website. The child broke his hand and suffered injuries to both arms in the fall.

Transportation Minister Sha'ul Mofaz, who was visited Sderot shortly after the attack, said Israel should respond by re-instituting its campaign of targeted killings against known terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Mofaz, a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of staff and minister of defense, said Israel's current policy of restraint had clearly failed to bring about a change in the dangerous situation facing the residents of southern Israel.

His remarks followed the publication of a scathing annual review by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss, who slammed the national leadership for failing to deal with the Gaza rocket threat.
