Israeli officers wounded in Jerusalem terror shooting

Two Israeli Border Police officers were wounded when Palestinian terrorist gunmen attacked their patrol in eastern Jerusalem on Saturday evening.

The Israelis came under fire from two assailants as they conducted a routine patrol on the outskirts of the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Said, which is adjacent to the Jewish neighborhood of Armon Hanatziv and the Haas Promenade that overlooks Mount Zion and Jerusalem's Old City.

One of the Israelis was listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his chest. The second was moderately wounded in his limbs.

Other members of the patrol managed to return fire on their fleeing attackers, killing them both. An Arab bystander was also killed in the exchange, apparently by the terrorist gunfire.

An "armed wing" of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction claimed credit for the attack.
