Hamas swept to victory in last year's Palestinian parliamentary election, but many of the terror group's voters are now kicking themselves for not going with the other guy.
“I wanted to shoot myself for voting Hamas,” a Palestinian man whose brother was wounded in Gaza last week told Ha'aretz from an Israeli hospital. “We really believed Hamas would change things.”
And now, “Hamas has money and weapons for the next 20 years,” lamented the man.
He went on to complain that Israel did not intervene militarily as Hamas overran Gaza last week. The Palestinians usually decry Israeli military activity in any of the territories they as their own.
Another wounded Palestinian noted the irony in the fact that “Israel is rescuing us from our Muslim 'brothers.'”
