A German military helicopter came to the aid of two dehydrated Israelis off the coast of Beirut, Lebanon earlier this week.

The Israelis were sailing their yacht from Israel to nearby Cyprus when they began suffering from dehydration as a heat wave swept over the region.

One of several German warships patrolling the Lebanese coast as part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) answered the distress call and dispatched its rescue helicopter.

The Israelis were flown to Cyprus where they received medical treatment.
