Israeli lawmakers say 'no' to 'Bush Institute'

Israel's Knesset on Wednesday voted down a bill to establish the “George W. Bush Center for the Study of Terror” in the Jewish state.

The bill's sponsor, opposition Likud lawmaker Yisrael Katz, slammed the government coalition for voting against a measure to honor the US president when it is the recipient of so much diplomatic and financial goodwill from Washington.

The rejection of the bill was also seen as odd in light of the fact that an overwhelming majority of Israelis back Bush's approach to dealing with the mounting threat of global Islamic terror, including America's ongoing efforts in Iraq.
