Iranian Jews uninterested in financial incentive to leave

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

Very few Iranian Jews have responded to an offer of up to $60,000 per family in return for immigrating to Israel, reported Israel National News.

The financial incentives - $10,000 per person - are being offered by Jews of Iranian descent who are already living in Israel. Jewish donors from around the world have contributed to the fund.

An estimated 20,000 Jews still live in Iran. Some speculate that many of those Jews may have become convinced that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will succeed in making good on his threat to destroy Israel.
