Most Palestinians support suicide bombings

A new poll of Muslims in 15 different countries showed that support for the use of suicide bombings has plummeted in recent years in all localities except one - the Palestinian Authority.

From Bangladesh to Pakistan to Lebanon, the vast majority of Muslims no longer believe the use of suicide bombings against their enemies' civilians is justified. Only 34 percent of respondents in Muslim countries said they still condone the practice of detonating human bombs among unarmed men, women and children.

The numbers flip-flop when looking only at the Palestinian Arabs, 70 percent of whom are fully supportive of suicide bombings against Israeli Jewish civilians.

The numbers reveal a serious disconnect between US President George W. Bush's assertion that the Palestinian Arab public desires only peace and the that population's true dispositions.
