Israel helps homosexual couples adopt

Sunday, July 29, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

Israel's Welfare Ministry has launched a program to facilitate child adoption by same-sex couples based on the recent recommendations of a committee established by current Welfare Minister Isaac Herzog.

The initiative has already resulted in 30 lesbian couples being granted permission to officially adopt children together, reported Israel's Ynet news portal.

Herzog's committee recommended altering the legal interpretation of a law that only permits adoption by “normative” households, which are traditionally viewed as those consisting of a male and female couple.

The decision has been lauded by groups pushing homosexual agendas in Israel.
