Tuesday, August 07, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

An Israeli man traveling on a major highway adjacent to the West Bank was seriously wounded by Palestinian gunfire on Tuesday.

Police at first thought the man had been shot by terrorists, but later discovered that a wedding had been taking place in a nearby Palestinian village and that many participants had fired weapons in celebration.

Arab men typically fire guns into the air during significant occasions, such as weddings and funerals.
