Sharon ranch hit by Palestinian rocket

Former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon's ranch was hit by two Palestinian rockets fired from the nearby Gaza Strip last Thursday.

One of the rockets landed near a sheep barn, but caused no injuries.

Gaza-based Palestinian terrorists have fired thousands of rockets at southern Israel over the past five years, but Thursday's attack was the first time the projectiles had ever hit Sharon's private residence.

In 2005, Sharon implemented the forced removal of all Jews from Gaza, a move analysts say has now resulted in the volatile coastal strip becoming a leading global haven for Islamic terrorism.
