Giuliani says 'NO' to terror-supporting Palestinian state

US Republican presidential frontrunner Rudy Giuliani wrote in a position paper published this week that America cannot afford to help birth a Palestinian Arab state that will undoubtedly become a leading facilitator of global Islamic terrorism.

Laying out his views in the journal Foreign Affairs, Giuliani said the Clinton and Bush administrations had put too much emphasis on “brokering negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians -- negotiations that bring up the same issues again and again.”

Giuliani said the Palestinians' problem was no longer a lack of statehood, which Israel was willing to give years ago, but rather a lack of good governance.

The former New York mayor said that “Palestinian statehood will have to be earned through sustained good governance, a clear commitment to fighting terrorism, and a willingness to live in peace with Israel” - obligations the Palestinians have shown they are unable to fulfill at present.

That being the case, “it is not in the interest of the United States, at a time when it is being threatened by Islamist terrorists, to assist the creation of another state that will support terrorism,” said Giuliani.
