Olmert wants to boost Palestinian economy, release more prisoners

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met on Tuesday with visiting peace envoy Tony Blair to discuss ways to help boost the Palestinian economy.

While the Palestinian Authority itself has done little to effectively govern and build a viable nation-state, Olmert and Blair want to go to the international community on behalf of the Palestinians to gain foreign investment, reported The Jerusalem Post.

Olmert also said he is considering setting free 100 more Palestinian security prisoners as a goodwill gesture toward Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Israel released 250 jailed terrorists last month in an effort to bolster Abbas' rule.
