Israeli military officials last week announced plans to establish a full military academy in the Jewish state.

Modeled on the US Military Academy at West Point and Britain's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Israeli academy will offer bachelors, masters and possibly even doctorate degrees, reported Ynet.

The army is currently waiting for authorization from Israel's Council of Higher Education to go ahead with the project.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) already operates a National Defense College and a Staff and Command College.
