Battles continue in Gaza Strip

Tuesday, January 04, 2005 |

Israeli military operations continue today in the tense Gaza Strip following more Palestinian rocket attacks upon Israeli civilians. At least seven Palestinians, most of them Hamas fighters, have been killed in the northern town of Beit Lahiya by tank fire. Six others were wounded, according to Palestinian sources. Earlier two Palestinian Kassam rockets were fired at the Israeli town of Sderot, where three people were treated for shock. Mortars also landed near a Jewish school bus passing through the Erez checkpoint, lightly wounding two Israeli adults in a car accompanying the bus.
