Tourist wounded in Galilee stoning attack

Sunday, October 14, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

A foreign tourist was lightly wounded Saturday evening when Arab youths from the northern Israel town of Nazareth hurled stones at a tour bus traveling through the childhood hometown of Jesus.

The victim was lightly wounded by shrapnel when one of the stones smashed the window next to the bus driver, reported Ynet. She did not require medical treatment.

A day earlier, two youths from another Arab town in the Lower Galilee were arrested after being caught throwing stones at Israeli motorists on a nearby highway.

Police officials report a sharp rise in stone throwing attacks in northern Israel in recent weeks.
