Palestinian police gun down civilians at checkpoint

Sunday, October 14, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

Palestinian security forces shot and killed a young Arab man and his five-year-old son at a checkpoint in the West Bank town of Kalkilya on Saturday.

Palestinian officials cited by Ha'aretz said the 22-year-old victim failed to stop at the checkpoint despite clear orders from the officers on duty.

Ironically, it is the Palestinians who regularly accuse Israeli soldiers of committing abuses at military checkpoints in the area. Israel is harshly condemned by the international community any time its own forces kill Palestinians who pose a threat at those checkpoints.
