Abbas: Israel the ‘Zionist Enemy’

Wednesday, January 05, 2005 |

While talking on his election campaign tour of the Gaza Strip, PLO-Chairman Mahmoud Abbas described Israel yesterday as the ‘Zionist Enemy’, after seven Palestinians – mostly belonging to the Hamas terror organisation – had been killed by a tank shell yesterday morning. Unfazed by the terming of Abbas, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hopes to meet Abbas soon after his expected election as Palestinian leader on January 9, senior officials in the Prime Ministers Office said. No date has yet been set for a meeting, the discussion will certainly center on Palestinian Authority security and institutional reforms.
