Peres plays godfather to driver's son

Israeli President Shimon Peres took time out from his busy schedule last week to fill the role of godfather at the circumcision of his long-time personal driver's newborn son.

Elon Navi has been Peres' driver for the past 10 years, and was described by the president during the circumcision ceremony as an inseparable part of his family. Now that is literally true, with Peres accepting the honor of playing godfather to the child.

The child was named Maor, Hebrew for "a source of light," and Peres' personal blessing over him was that the child would grow to become a light for his people.
