Over the past month the number of Facebook users identified as members of the "Israel Network" has doubled from 74,000 to 152,000, reported Ha'aretz.
The increase is believed to be due primarily to word of mouth, and the users are said to comprise a "quality audience" of early adapters aged 25-40.
Israeli advertising firms are also taking notice, pushing more of their clients to make use of Facebook's new targeted advertising system, which allows a company to get its product in front of a specific audience in an unobtrusive way.
The US-based social network started out as a secure online meeting place for college students. Since opening its doors to the general public, membership has exploded to over 50 million users worldwide.
