Palestinian rockets cause damage in Sderot

Sunday, November 18, 2007 |  by Staff Writer

A barrage of Palestinian rockets launched during the predawn hours on Saturday destroyed five parked cars in the southern Israel town of Sderot.

During a similar daytime attack earlier this year, a widely used photograph that came to symbolize the plight of the working-class town showed a Sderot family taking cover under a parked vehicle. Israeli media reported that one of the cars destroyed in Saturday's attack was the very one from that photo.

Nighttime rocket attacks on Sderot and neighboring communities have been rare, and sources told Ynet that local children already suffering the psychological effects of life under siege were further traumatized by the experience.

Israel continues to respond to the ongoing artillery attacks with pinpoint strikes on Gaza terrorist cells. Military experts have warned that anything short of a full-scale invasion of Gaza will only perpetuate the current situation.
