6 female soldiers wounded by Arab rocket

Six female Israeli solders were treated for shock late Tuesday night after Palestinian terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip fired a rocket at their army base in southern Israel.

Another rocket landed just outside the nearby town of Sderot. In all, Gaza-based terrorists fired nine rockets and 12 mortar shells at Jewish communities and Israeli army bases on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Israeli air and ground forces successfully targeted Palestinian rocket crews in Gaza, killing at least 13 terrorists including a top Islamic Jihad commander.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert later told a gathering of his Kadima Party that he plans to maintain the current level of military pressure on the terrorists until artillery attacks against southern Israel cease.

Palestinian Prime Minister Salaam Fayyad, meanwhile, called Israel's response to the rocket fire a "crime," and urged the international community to prevent the Jewish state from militarily defending itself.
