Israeli forces wrap up successful West Bank op

Israeli forces on Saturday wrapped up a three-day raid in the Samarian town of Nablus. Army officials reported that the operation netted 20 terror suspects, including a number of senior militants. The Israelis also discovered and destroyed a weapons cache and explosives laboratory.

Officials cited by Israel's Ynet news portal later said the destroyed facilities were part of a nascent rocket-building effort by terrorists based in Samaria.

If Palestinian terrorists in Samaria managed to acquire a large arsenal of rockets like that fielded by their comrades in Gaza, they would able to threaten Israel's largest population centers.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad claimed that the Israeli operation had ruined the security plans his government was just about to implement in Nablus. For more than a decade the Palestinian Authority has failed to meet its security obligations by curbing the terrorist threat against Israel.
