Another quake strikes southern Lebanon

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook Israel, Lebanon and Syria on Friday. A number of buildings in Lebanon were damaged and at least five people were lightly wounded there.

In Israel, the quake was felt as far south as Jerusalem, and mainly along Israel's densely populated coastal plain. There were no injuries reported in Israel, but an old house reportedly collapsed near the Palestinian Authority-controlled town of Nablus.

The tremor was centered just a few miles from the southern Lebanon coastal city of Tyre, which is roughly the same location struck by a 4.1-magnitude earthquake earlier in the week.
