Barak wants to evacuate Gaza City

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak confirmed on Israel's Channel Two News on Wednesday that he is seeking legal approval to evacuate Palestinian residents of Gaza City in the event that Israeli forces launch a full-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip.

The removal of Palestinian civilians from Gaza City and its environs would allow Israeli forces a better chance of fully destroying the Gaza terrorist infrastructure without the risk of causing widespread collateral damage and incurring international condemnation.

The Israeli government has ordered the army to draw up plans for an invasion of Gaza aimed at eliminating the threat of Palestinian rocket attacks against southern Israel if such terrorist aggression persists.
