Kuwaiti official reiterates Israel should hit Iran

A leading Kuwaiti analyst and former government minister on Sunday reiterated his view that Iran's nuclear program will ultimately have to be destroyed militarily, and that Israel should do it.

Speaking to a local daily newspaper, Sami al-Faraj said that none of the Gulf states want to see a nuclear Iran, which would pose a strategic threat to Sunni Arab regimes.

Al-Faraj said that while the Gulf Cooperation Council's official position is that it seeks a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis, it is becoming increasingly clear that someone will eventually have to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities.

If and when it comes to that, having the Israelis handle the dirty work would "be less embarrassing for us" than if the Americans did it, according to al-Faraj.
