A popular Greek singer was verbally attacked and nearly assaulted at an Athens nightclub recently after she agreed to perform a Hebrew song, reported Israel's Ynet news portal.

Glykeria is known in Greece for her open affection for Israel, and has even released a Hebrew album.

The assailants, a group of young Arab men who were said to be "frantic" when the singer launched into a Hebrew song at the nightclub, were dragged out of the establishment by security guards.

They later sent a threatening letter to Glykeria accusing her of "collaborating with Zionists."
