Grandson of Jerusalem mayor dies

Thursday, January 13, 2005 |
The 2-year-old grandson of Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski died Thursday of complications of a dental treatment to correct problems in the growth of the boy’s baby teeth. Yair Lupolianski was taken to Hadassah Hospital on Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem in serious condition on Wednesday when he lapsed into unconsciousness after a dentist gave him a shot of anesthesia during the dental procedure, Army Radio reported. It was thought that the dentist gave the boy too large a dose of anesthetic, however the head of the dental division at Hadassah Hospital in Ein Karem, where the boy had been transferred for further treatment, told Army Radio that the toddler was actually given a lower dose than the customary amount. The Police have opened an investigation on Thursday to determine whether the dentist of the Jerusalem mayor's 2-year-old grandson was responsible for the toddler's death.
