Hizballah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah told supporters in Beirut on Monday that the military forces of the Arab world are capable of destroying Israel, whose own military prowess has been "exaggerated by Zionist-American propaganda."
Speaking via video link to thousands of Lebanese who gathered to mark the end of a 40-day mourning period for assassinated Hizballah co-founder Imad Mughniyeh, Nasrallah said that the 2006 Second Lebanon War had revealed Israel's vulnerabilities, and insisted that "the Zionist entity can be wiped out of existence."
Hizballah has predictably accused Israel of being behind the February 12 Damascus bombing that killed Mughniyeh, but Israeli government sources cited by The Jerusalem Post noted that Syria's restraint in the blame game likely speaks to Syrian involvement in the hit.
Earlier, Mughniyeh's wife had told an Italian news service that she had no doubt Syria was behind the assassination of her husband following growing tension between Damascus and the Lebanese terrorist militia that it continues to support.
